SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb 16, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATVI) today announced a groundbreaking partnership designed to bring rich, realistic surround sound experiences to gamers worldwide, by ensuring Activision's audio production facilities in North America are optimized for Dolby(R) technologies.

Beginning today, Dolby will help optimize Activision's audio production facilities in North America so that even more Activision games can deliver Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Activision worked closely with Dolby last year to optimize Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound while developing its best-selling "Call of Duty(R) 2" for the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Today, many of Activision's games for the PLAYSTATION(R) 3 and Xbox 360 feature Dolby Digital 5.1.

"We are glad to be working so closely with a major publisher like Activision to help the company deliver more vivid and engaging surround sound experiences to gamers," said Douglas Greenfield, Senior Director, Production Services Group, Dolby Laboratories. "In the high-definition era, games need to sound as good as they look. By optimizing its audio production facilities for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, Activision can bring gamers more of the great sound they demand."

"We are thrilled to be working with Dolby, the undisputed leader in surround sound technology," said Adam Levenson, Director of Audio, Activision. "Gamers today want the realism and full emotional impact that only rich surround sound can deliver. Our partnership with Dolby is an important step we are taking to bring the very best game play experiences to gamers around the world."
